1911 France 20 Franc Rooster Reverse

Excerpt from CoinsAuctioned:

The first franc was minted struck in the year 1360 when King John was at liberty. King John showed his shield with a horseback. Franc coins fell into abandonment after 1642, until they were survived during the ground-breaking period in 1795, when a decimal currency system was presented.

This was considered the world’s first decimal monetary system, although America had projected it in 1781. French Gold Roosters were minted from 1899 until 1914. Roosters were dated from 1907 until 1914 and have been formally accessed “UNC” condition.

The reverse of the coin has the Gallic cock surrounded by the caption (LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE). The coinage bordered the rooster’s legs. The date 1907 can be found at the substructure angle of the coin and is bounded by the privy marks of a torch and cornucopia.
